The
Return of the King Sword!
The
Sword of Elendil was forged anew by elvish smiths, and on its blade was
traced a device of seven stars set between the crescent Moon and the
rayed Sun, and about them were written many runes; for Aragorn son of
Arathorn was going to war upon the marches of Mordor. Very bright was
that sword when it was made whole again; the light of the sun shone
readily in it, and the light of the moon shone cold, and its edge was
hard and keen. And Aragorn gave it a new name and called it Andúril,
Flame of the West." - The Fellowship of the Ring This is
the reforged blade of Narsil, the sword wielded by Aragorn, King of
Gondor. The inscription down the length of the blade on both sides is in
the Tolkien language of Quenya, written in the runes of Eregion, that
say: "Nányë
Andúril i né Narsil i macil Elendilo. Lercuvanten i máli Mordórëo". This
translates to: "I am Andúril who was Narsil, the sword of Elendil. Let
the thralls of Mordor flee me."

ArwenÂ’s sword is called Hadhafang which means Throng-cleaver. It once
belonged to the Elven princess Idril, who wed a mortal man and bore
Earendil, the father of Elrond who in turn was father to Arwen. Before
ArwenÂ’s birth, Elrond wielded Hadhafang at the end of the second age of
'Middle-Earth,' during the Last Alliance of Elves and Men in the great
battle against Sauron. Later his daughter, Arwen, used Hadhafang whenshe
aided Frodo in his escape from the Ringwraiths. Inscribed on the blade are
runes in the Elven language of Sindarin that say 'aen estar Hadhafang i
chathol hen, thand arod dan i thang an i arwen.' Which translates to 'this
blade is called Hadhafang, a noble defense against the enemy throng for a
noble lady.'

Narsil is perhaps the most famous sword in the "Lord of the Rings"
trilogy. At the end of the second age of "Middle-Earth," Narsil's blade
was shattered as Elendil fell during the Last Alliance of Elves and Men in
the great battle against Sauron, creating the Shards of Narsil. Isildur,
Elendil's son, then used the broken hilt of Narsil to cut the One Ring
from Sauron's finger, breaking the bonds of his power, banishing his evil
shadow into the darkness. The Shards were kept in Rivendell, the house of
Elrond, for safe keeping. Legend has been told that the sword would one
day be reforged and the king would return. Engraved on the pommel are
runes in the Elven language of Sindarin that say "Narsil essenya, macil,
meletya Telchar carneron Navrotesse," which translates to "Narsil is my
name, a mighty sword; Telchar made me in Nogrod."

This Rohirrim blade is due to be a big favorite in the
next and final film "The Return of the King". For it is this weapon that
Eowyn, white Lady of Rohan, along with the aid of Merry, uses to slay
the Witchking and his steed.
"Eowyn leapt up and took her sword. With one last swoop, she drove
her sword between crown and mantel, as his great shoulders bowed before
her. Eowyn's sword broke as well, and the crown rolled onto the ground.
The Nazgul shrieked and cried his harsh voice shuddering air. It faded
into a shrill wailing, passing with the wind, a voice bodiless and thin
that died."
Eowyn met, and instantly fell in love with Aragorn. After realizing that
Arogorn's heart is promised to another she met Faramir, and while
recovering from here injuries during the fight with the Witchking, fell
in love with him. After the War of the Ring, Eowyn and Faramir were
married, and she became the White Lady of Ithilien.

Sting is the magical sword
given to Frodo Baggins by his cousin Bilbo, the original Ringbearer. It
is up to Frodo and the chosen "Fellowship" to cast the ring of Sauron back
into the fires of Mount Doom, where it was originally forged, and destroy
it once and for all. Bilbo gives Sting, a sword made by Elves in the
ancient days, to Frodo to serve him on his harrowing journey. Bilbo
carried Sting with him when he originally acquired the ring from Gollum.
Sting's blade glows when Orcs, the violent footsoldiers of Sauron, are
nearby. Engraved on the blade and cross guard are runes in the Elven
language of Sindarin that say "Maegnas is my name, I am the spider's
bane."

Saruman (also known as
Saruman the White), once the head of the Council of the White, was the
wisest and most powerful of that Order. Saruman had great power over
Men’s minds and great skill in his hands, and he was especially
knowledgeable about the lore of the Elven-rings and the devices of
Sauron. He fell into darkness when he delved too deep into the study of
his enemy’s ways. He became the chief adversary of the free people of
Rohan. Eventually he created an army of Uruk-Hai, grotesque fighting
creatures, to attack the Fellowship and gain The One Ring so he could
replace Sauron as The Lord of the Rings. Saruman possessed a very
powerful wizard’s staff. It was completely black with many flanges
arrayed around a central crystal which resided in its crown.

King Theoden, courageous soldier and leader of the land of Rohan,
fell under the power of the wizard Saruman through the slithering
machinations of his servant Grima. Only through the intervention of
Gandalf the White was Theoden exorcised of Saruman's corrupting
influence. Gandalf said to Theoden, "Your fingers would remember their
old strength better if they grasped your sword," and at that moment
Theoden's mind cleared, his authority as king returned to him, and his
great sword, Herugrim was once more returned to his grasp. Theoden went
on to lead the defense of Helm's Deep and the charge of the Rohirrim to
the aid of Gondor and against the hordes of the enemy that assailed the
White City. The hope of all Men and Free Peoples then lay in the defense
of Minas Tirith.

The Uruk-Hai are a breed of Orcs, evil fighting creatures created by
Saruman. They bear his symbol, the white hand, on their shields on
helmets. They are ordered to hunt the members of the Fellowship and find
the One Ring for Saruman. Uruk-Hai are armed with deadly scimitars, forged
in the mines or Orthanc. Like the Uruk-Hai themselves, this scimitar bears
all of the primitive, brute basics of these foul creatures. Roughly shaped
and forged, the blade has been authentically "battle worn" with corrosion,
rust, and tarnish to exactly duplicate the original movie props.
